THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

What to expect

We offer two types of health assessment: medical and functional. Both are performed by qualified doctors, nurses and OT health professionals.

Medical assessments

Medical assessments take about 30 minutes to complete. However, please allow up to an hour for your booking as you may also be asked to complete paperwork and additional tests.

Standard assessment examinations:
  • Musculoskeletal system (muscles and bones)
  • Cardio-pulmonary system (heart and lungs)
  • Ears, eyes and mouth
  • Skin
  • Veins
  • Abdomen (stomach)
Additional tests that may be requested:
  • Urine sample
  • Hearing (audiometric) test
  • Functional assessment

Functional assessments

Functional assessments can take up to an hour to complete. They may take longer if you’re also having a full medical assessment. The evaluation determines your ability to perform role-related tasks.

Your assessment may include the following:
  • Lifting
  • Carrying
  • Pushing/pulling
  • Working at different postures
  • Hand skill testing

You may be asked to perform a step test to assess your cardiovascular fitness for job matching. The assessor will also check your blood pressure, heart rate and flexibility.
